a Private Academy in the Catholic Tradition
Each year the teachers arrange for a variety of educational, age-appropriate field trips. Every year the 5th grade class also takes an educational trip to Mesa Verde National Park.
Middle school and older students can earn PE credits by participating in the Ski and Snowboard Club. Our students receive excellent instruction from Telluride experts and spend three full days on the slopes in Telluride.
To enhance our younger learners’ concept of 100, we celebrate our one hundredth day of school with an emphasis on one hundred as well as literacy. We have many counting and sorting activities, collections, cross grade activities, sharing of our own written stories and published authors of children’s books as our guest speakers.
In April, students put their memorization and public speaking skills on display as they recite and deliver poems, speeches, or other pieces. Parents, family members, and friends are welcome to attend this special event, which is concluded with coffee and snacks.
Every year, each class takes time to learn about one specific country - its geography, history, politics, and culture. One full day is spent with the individual class presenting its country to the rest of the school and to parents and friends in a variety of ways including skits, speeches, music, dancing, maps, drawings, charts, time lines, and even food. This program also gives our students the opportunity to speak in front of all the students and many parents.
